How to Make Vietnamese Tofu Stir-Fry for a Healthy Dinner

If you’re looking for a quick and healthy dinner option, Vietnamese tofu stir-fry is an excellent choice. Packed with flavor and nutrients, this dish is both satisfying and easy to prepare. Here’s how to make Vietnamese tofu stir-fry in just a few simple steps.

Ingredients Needed

To create a delicious Vietnamese tofu stir-fry, gather the following ingredients:

  • 400g firm tofu, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (or vegetarian oyster sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Preparation Steps

Follow these steps to prepare your Vietnamese tofu stir-fry:

Step 1: Prepare the Tofu

Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in paper towels and place a heavy object on top for about 15-20 minutes. After pressing, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

Step 2: Cook the Tofu

In a large non-stick skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the cubed tofu and cook until all sides are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tofu and set it aside.

Step 3: Stir Fry Vegetables

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the sliced bell peppers and broccoli, cooking for 3-5 minutes until they are tender but still crisp.

Step 4: Combine Tofu and Sauces

Return the cooked tofu to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce. Stir to combine well and let everything cook together for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Drizzle with sesame oil before removing from heat.

Step 5: Serve

Once your Vietnamese tofu stir-fry is ready, serve it hot over a bed of cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with fresh cilantro for an extra pop of flavor and color.

Tips for the Perfect Stir-Fry

  • For extra crunch, add nuts like cashews or peanuts.
  • Feel free to mix in other vegetables such as carrots or snap peas.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add sliced chili peppers or red pepper flakes.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Enjoy your homemade Vietnamese tofu stir-fry as a healthy and vibrant dinner option that’s sure to please everyone at the table!
